Agrochemex International has a dedicated team responsible for conducting operator exposure studies throughout Europe and further afield. Key staff within this team have unrivalled experience having conducted 15 worker exposure studies in recent years, including both passive dosimetry and biomonitoring studies.

The team has worked with many of the major international agrochemical companies along with Task Force groups and the European Crop Protection Association (ECPA) European Operator Exposure Monitoring (EOEM) Task Force.

AgroChemex International can provide a complete study service including:
Study design, protocol preparation, logistical planning, field notebooks, field observers, field analytical service (field spikes), passive dosimetry sampling, biological sampling (urine), inhalation exposure sampling, sample shipment, analysis of samples, final report and quality assurance.

Studies are designed according to the OECD series on Testing and Assessment No. 9 “Guidance Document for the Conduct of Studies of Occupational Exposure to Pesticides During Agricultural Application”. (OECD/GD (97) 148). However, we recognise the flexibility which is required to perform such studies in order to meet the study objectives and we also understand the different requirements for regulatory and product stewardship studies.

Passive Dosimetry:
Quantitative measure of potential exposure information on the main sources of potential exposure.
Efficiency of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) can be used to modify the PPE on product labels.
Used to insert values into Predictive Operator Exposure Model (POEM) to determine estimated actual exposure.

Biomonitoring:
Quantitative measure of actual absorbed dose (Urine analysis)
Generally performed for volatile compounds (e.g. fumigation compounds)
Pharmaco-kinetic data must be available.
Blood sampling can be performed as a qualitative measure (cholinesterase inhibition) Inhalation.

 Exposure:
Personal air sampling methods performed with both passive dosimetry and biomonitoring studies.

With an experienced and flexible team comprising Study Director, Principal Investors and analytical support AgroChemex International is ideally suited to being your partner for the conduct of these complex studies.
