Senior Consultant Scientist - Lincolnshire
After studying Agronomy and Soil Science at Reading, John gained a PhD at Edinburgh University, researching into crop sulphur deficiency in SE Scotland. Most of his working life has been spent in the agrochemical distribution industry in the role of technical manager. John has provided laboratory services in crop protection and crop nutrition, along with a role of crop protection product assessment through trials programmes. Speciality areas, due mainly to his location in South Lincolnshire, include root and vegetable crops – many “arable” products have been usefully developed into the vegetable sector over recent years. After five years of establishing his own successful company, GrowScience Limited, John joined AgroChemex Limited in 2005. This move offers a complimentary location, in the heart of the fertile silt fens of South Lincolnshire, to the Manningtree site at head office. The Holbeach base provides laboratory services to growers and agronomists and is an ideal centre for trials work in brassicas, potatoes, onions, bulbs, peas & beans, cereals and OSR – in fact most crops grown in the UK are easily accessed.
